Carbon Footprint Audit

Your Carbon Footprint is a measure of the total greenhouse gas (CO2e) emissions directly and indirectly caused by your business at a specific point in time. Or a specific measurement of the CO2e emissions associated with an activity that you wish to measure or quantify. The audit will be conducted in accordance with the 'best practice' guidelines and emissions factors published by the UK Government.

We can either carry out the Carbon Footprint audit for you, or offer guidance for you to conduct your own internal review. LewisSustainable believes that the objective of any Carbon Footprint should be to capture the broadest range of emissions data so that your business has the greatest scope for reducing its emissions.

For example, a review might include:

  • Key personnel interviews
  • Internal survey
  • Supply chain / supplier questionnaire
  • Review of utility bill data
  • Review of internal data systems
  • Review of all business travel

The audit concludes with the presentation of a final report document containing key information and recommendations, including specific reference to current and prospective Government legislation that may impact on your business.

Why is the audit a good idea?

  • Scientists agree that we need to keep global warming below 2° C (compared to pre-industrial levels) otherwise we risk the danger of extreme changes in the Earth's weather patterns and/or the provision of the services provided by ecosystems
  • Climate Change Act 2008: The UK government has set legally binding targets of at least an 80% cut in greenhouse gas emission by 2050, with an intermediate target of 34% by 2020
  • Understanding how these targets will affect your business will be the difference between future commercial success, or not
